Trailing Cables
XLPE Insulated PVC Sheathed Cables
XLPE Insulated PVC Sheathed Cables
Cross linked polyethene (XLPE) is a thermosetting material obtained by forming cross linkages in polythene molecules. In the past two decades PVC had been the preferred material for insulating cables. It suffered from inherent disadvantages because of its thermoplastic nature. This restricted the maximum operating temperature of the conductor and its ability to withstand thermal overloads. It also had high dielectric loss which made its use uneconomical in cables.
Technical Advantages of XLPE vis-a-vis PVC
Higher Current rating
Higher short circuit rating(approx 1.2 times than PVC)
Higher insulation resistance(1000 times more than PVC insulating cables)
Higher resistance to moisture(1000 times more than PVC)
Better resistance to surge currents
Has better resistance to most chemicals, oils and acids etc.
Low dielectric losses
Better resistance to chemicals and corrosive gases etc.
Comparatively higher cable operating temperature of 90oC and short circuit temperature of 250o C.
Smaller bending radius.
Commercial Advantages
Lower laying cost because of comparatively smaller diameter of cable and lighter weight.
Requires less size of cable tray/supports
One size lower cable can be used as compared to PVC insulated cables.
Longer service life.
FRLS XLPE CABLES
XLPE cables can also be used with FRLS PVC sheathing to meet flame retardant low smoke properties.

Thermocouple Wire & Compensating Cables
Thermocouple Wire & Compensating Cables
Temperature Measurement And Control
The measurement of temperature is one of the most vital functions in manufacturing and processing operations.
Complementing its line of Electronic Instrumentation Cable Mansfield now provides the industry with a complete range of Thermocouple Grade wire & thermocouple extension wire & cable for manufacturing and process control to sense & transmit temperature measurements. The cables are produced to the highest standards of reliability and safety established by government and industry.
Thermocouple
At the heart of all temperature measurement is the thermocouple. Although involving very complex design parameters, the fundamental concept of all thermocouples is same. Two wires of dissimilar metals are joined together at one end .An increase in temperature creates an electromotive force (emf) or signal, which is transmitted through these wires to a monitoring device which "reads" this signal and displays it on a previously calibrated meter of digital device.
The monitoring device is usually at a location some distance away from the actual thermocouple. To connect the thermocouple to the monitor requires wire or cable (for multiple thermocouple installations) that will maintain the integrity of the tremperature-emf signal generated by the primary wires in the thermocouple.
Conducter Materials
The range and accuracy of temperature measurement are dependent on the conductor material employed. Pairs of various metal alloys will react differently with changes in temperature.
Compensating Cables
Compensating cables (Thermo Couple Extension Wire) are a pair of different metal wires having temperature/Voltage characteristics relative to the thermo couple with which the wires are intended to be used. Both the conductors of extension cables consist partially of the same material as thermocouple and partially of special metal having, the same thermo voltage as wires of thermocouples.
Construction
Compensating Cables are generally flat having 2 cores(positive and negative different colours) each core electrically and thermally insulated and sheathed as per user's requirements. The general insulation and sheathing is done by following materials.
PVC Insulated PVC sheathed
Cores double fibre glass lapped, varnished , Fibre glass braided over all asbestoes braided and heat
proof compounded.
PVC insulated and aesbestoes braided heat proof compounded.
Each core twice fibre glass lapped, varnished and overall fibreglass braided and varnished.
Armouring
Armouring is generally provided at galvanised steel wire/Tinned Copper wire/Stainless Steel wires etc.
Elastomeric Insulated Cable...
Elastomeric Insulated Cable
In keeping with the company's commitment to technological advancement, elastomeric materials such as Polychloroprene(PCP), Chloro-Sulphonated polyethelene(CSP), Nitrile Rubber, Ethylene Propylene Rubber( EPR), Ethylene Vinyle Acetate (EVA) have been specially compounded to meet numerous heat, oil and fire resisting requirements.
Trailing Cables
TrailingCables
Trailing cables are specially designed for reeling-unreeling purpose and is mostly used in material handling application. As a common norm, these cables are manufactured and supplied with EPR insulation and PCP sheath.
Silicon Cables
Silicon Cables
Silicone rubber insulation has excellent properties and high thermal resistance. It can with stand maximum cord temperature of 150/180 deg C for continuous operation and 350 degree C for short-circuit. It can withstand minimum working temperature of -55C. It maintains circuit continuity even in fire because Silicone Rubber burns into an insulating ash. It is resistant to moisture, ozone radiation and chemicals.
PTFE/Teflon Cables
PTFE/Teflon Cables
Mansfield Cable is in manufacturing of special types of electrical cables like PTFE Insulated Wires, Multicore Cables, Resistance Wires and Sleeves, to meet the specific requirements of Defence, Telecom, Space and Instrumentation Industries.
PTFE has an edge over the common insulation viz, PVC etc, has low di-electric constant and suitable for high frequencies upto 10 GHz.
PTFE material can withstand very high temperature upto 250 degrees C to -65 degree C and does not get affected from chemicals and is Flame Proof.
Aerial Bunched Cables
Aerial Bunched Cables
Mansfield Aerial Bunched Cables( ABC) is a very novel concept for Over head Power Distribution. When compared to the conventional bare conductor over head distribution system. ABC provides higher safety and reliability, lower power losses and ultimate system economy by reducing installation, maintenance and operative cost. This system is ideal for rural distribution and specially attractive for installation in difficult terrains such as hilly areas, forest areas, coastal areas etc. These cables are being designed, manufactured & tested conforming to IS: 14255 & other International specifications.
ABC is also considered to be the choice for power distribution in congested urban areas with narrow lanes and by-lanes. In developing urban complex, ABC is the better choice because of flexibility for re-routing as demanded by changes in urban development plan.
Applications:
ABC can be conveniently used: As replacement of bare lines in rural areas, in woods and in other localities & narrow streets where the
space is limited.
As replacement of bare lines where reliability of supply is of prime importance.
As replacement of bare lines where high degrees of stability of supply voltage is of importance.
In hilly terrains where cost of erection of overhead lines or under ground cable becomes very high.
As reinforcement of existing system without increasing voltage.
For temporary supplies.

Also Adapter Extension cables are used for connection between isolating transformer and Light Unit. They are used for connection between Isolating Transformer secondary lead and Airfield light unit. The adapter extension cables are rated for 6.6 A, 50 Hz.
Nyvin Cables
Nyvin Cables
The British Standard states the requirements for 'Nyvin' type cables for aircraft wiring. The cables are suitable for use in circuits in which the voltage between conductors, between a conductor and a metal braid, surrounding it and between a conductor and the aircraft structure no where exceeds 600 Volts rms and in which the frequency doesn't exceed 1600c/s.
The cables are suitable for use where, in continuous service, no combination of ambient temperature and conductor current produces a stabilized conductor temperature in excess of 105oC .They are suitable for fixed wiring in aircraft at temperature down to 75oC, but are not suitable for severe flexing at temperatures below 30oC.
The cables do not support combustion, but they do not comply with the requirements of British Standard G.100 in respect of fire resistance. The cables are suitable for use in areas where ester-base fluids are present.
The generic name 'Nyvin' is applicable only to cables covered by this British Standard and complying with all its requirements.
The standard includes the following range of cables:
Nyvin-Cable with a copper conductor and an insulation of PVC compound and glass braid with an outer protective covering of Nylon.
Nyvinal-Similar to the Nyvin range but with a conductor of aluminum instead of copper.
Nyvinmet-Simialr to the Nyvin range but with the addition of a metal braid.
Nyvinmetsheath-Similar to the Nyvin Range but with the addition of a metal braid and a sheath comprising a polystar film tape, a nylon fibre or ribbon braid, nylon lacquered, to prevent abrasions in installations where Nyvinmet cable is in contact without a metal braid.
